May 8 (UPI) — Blade Runner 2049 released a first full-length trailer starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford on Monday.
The preview sees Los Angeles Police Department Officer K (Gosling) seek out long-missing blade runner Rick Deckard (Ford) after discovering a long-buried secret.
Blade Runner 2049 is a sequel to the 1982 movie Blade Runner, which followed Deckard as he hunted replicants, genetically engineered androids. The new film co-stars Ana de Armas and Robin Wright.
“It was one of the first films I’d seen that it wasn’t clear how I was supposed to feel,” Gosling said of the original movie in a Facebook Live Q&A. “It made me question what it meant to be a human being and my ability to recognize the hero from the villain.”
“It’s very interesting visiting a character after some time,” Ford added. “It was a very gratifying experience.”
Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Arrival helmer Denis Villeneuve, with Blade Runner director Ridley Scott as executive producer. The film opens Oct. 6.
