CFP rankings: Georgia joins Top 4, Alabama tumbles

Nov. 19 (UPI) — Georgia joined Ohio State, Indiana and Texas A&M in the Top 4 of the latest College Football Playoff rankings, while Alabama fell six spots.

The reigning champion Ohio State Buckeyes (10-0), who just crushed the UCLA Bruins 48-10, remained atop the rankings for the third-consecutive week.

The No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers (11-0), who bludgeoned the Wisconsin Badgers 31-7, and No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies (10-0), who edged the South Carolina Gamecocks 31-30, are the only other undefeated teams in the rankings.

The Georgia Bulldogs (9-1), who beat the Texas Longhorns 35-10, climbed from No. 5 to 4. The Longhorns (7-3) dropped from No. 10 to 17.

No. 6 Ole Miss (10-1), No. 7 Oregon (10-1), No. 8 Oklahoma (8-2), No. 9 Notre Dame (8-2) and No. 10 Alabama (8-2) round out the Top 10 of the latest rankings. Alabama fell from No. 4 after a 23-21 loss to Oklahoma, who climbed three spots.

No. 11 BYU (9-1) and No. 12 Utah (8-2) each moved up one spot in the rankings due to victories and Texas’ fall out of the Top 10. The No. 13 Miami Hurricanes (8-2), who beat NC State 41-7, moved up from No. 15 to No. 13, passing No. 14 Vanderbilt (8-2), who did not play last week.

No. 15 USC (8-2), No. 16 Georgia Tech (9-1), No. 17 Texas (7-3), No. 18 Michigan (8-2), No. 19 Virginia (9-2) and No. 20 Tennessee (7-3) are among additional Top 20 programs.

No. 21 Illinois (7-3), No. 22 Missouri (7-3), No. 23 Houston (8-2), No. 24 Tulane (8-2) and No. 25 Arizona State (7-3) round out the Top 25.

Arizona State, Tulane, Houston and Illinois joined the rankings for the first time this season, while Missouri returned for the first time since the initial edition of the 2025 rankings.

Cincinnati (7-3), South Florida (7-3), Pittsburgh (7-3), Iowa (6-4) and Louisville (7-3) each exited the rankings after Week 12 losses.

The top-ranked Buckeyes will host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-5) at noon EST Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. The No. 2 Hoosiers are off this week.

The No. 3 Aggies will host the Samford Bulldogs (1-10) at noon Saturday in College Station, Texas. The No. 4 Bulldogs will host the Charlotte 49ers (1-9) at 12:45 p.m. in Athens, Ga.

No. 7 Oregon will host No. 15 USC in a matchup of ranked teams at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Eugene. No. 8 Oklahoma also will host No. 22 Missouri at noon in Norman.

The Top 4 ranked teams in the final College Football Playoff ranking will receive top seeds and a first-round bye in the 12-team tournament. Teams ranked Nos. 5 through 12 will play each other in the first round at the the higher-ranked team’s stadium.

The first round of the College Football Playoff will be contested Dec. 19 and 20. Quarterfinals will be held Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The semifinals will take place Jan. 8 and 9. The title game will be held Jan. 19 in Miami Gardens, Fla.

The fourth edition of the College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed at 7 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN. The fifth version will be released Dec. 2. Selection day will take place Dec. 7 on ESPN.
