Released in June 2001, The Fast and the Furious was directed by Rob Cohen and also starred Michelle Rodriguez. The movie has since inspired 10 sequels, including the upcoming Fast Forever, which opens in theaters in 2028.

Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, Jason Statham, Eva Mendes, John Cena, Kurt Russell, Jason Momoa, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson and Charlize Theron are among the stars who have appeared in the sequels.

“Reaching beyond cinema, the Fast saga has become a true pop-culture phenomenon,” Cannes organizers said.

Fast Forever is intended to be the 11th and final film in the franchise.
