Oct. 30 (UPI) — Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes while the Green Bay Packers defense harassed opposing quarterback Bryce Young to beat the Carolina Panthers in primetime.
The Packers quarterback completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards in the 27-19 victory Thursday in Green Bay, Wis. Running back Josh Jacobs totaled 42 yards from scrimmage and two scores in the win.
“We talk about how tough these short weeks are,” Love told reporters. “We’ve had two throughout the season so far. The way we came out and just executed today from the get-go was so much better than the last time we played a Thursday night game. That’s what it’s gotta be about.”
The Packers, who overcame two deficits, out-gained their visitors 354-258 in total yards and held a 21-14 advantage in first downs. They scored 21 consecutive points from the start of the second quarter into the third quarter to take control of the Monday Night Football clash.

They also totaled six sacks, recovered a fumble and logged an interception of Young. Linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper recorded eight combined tackles, a sack and an interception in the win. Defensive end Brenton Cox recorded a sack and fumble recovery.
“I’m happy with came out with a W,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. “I thought our defense played outstanding. To hold an offense like that, that is capable of generating a lot of explosive plays down most of the game and then really kinda saving the day in the second half. … Great performance.
“I was just proud of our guys, the effort and energy they brought.”

Kick returner Coleman Owen fumbled the opening kickoff, but the Packers defense held the Panthers to a field goal on the resulting possession. Love connected with tight end Tucker Kraft for the Packers’ first touchdown with about five minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Panthers answered with a 13-play, 65-yard touchdown drive. Running back Chuba Hubbard finished that possession with a 1-yard run.
Wide receiver Christian Watson lost a second Packers fumble on the next drive, but the Panthers couldn’t capitalize with points. Jacobs found the end zone on a 1-yard run midway through the second quarter for the Packers’ first lead.
Hopper intercepted Young about a minute later. Love threw a 24-yard touchdown toss to wide receiver Matthew Golden just before halftime to give the Packers a 20-10 lead at the break.

Neither team scored again until Young threw a 26-yard pass to Jalen Coker for the final touchdown of the night with 5:37 remaining. The Packers defense held strong down the stretch, denying the Panthers of points on their final two possessions.
