Dec. 16 (UPI) — Police are investigating shots fired near John F. Kennedy Airport in New York after a fender-bender ended in a Customs and Border Protection officer firing at a person.
Just before 5 a.m. EST, an on-duty CBP officer fired his gun after he said he was involved in a fender-bender, two-car accident on the Van Wyck Expressway. He said the other driver attacked him after the accident, and he shot his service gun several times at the man, who then fled.
No injuries have been reported. The other driver has not been found.
Most lanes of the southbound Van Wyck Expressway were shut down for the investigation. They reopened around 7 a.m.
