SoftBank Group first-half profit down 50% after WeWork turmoil

Tokyo (AFP) – SoftBank Group said Wednesday its first-half net profit halved, citing losses linked to its investments in controversial office space-sharing start-up WeWork, and other firms including Uber.

The scale of the firm’s losses was made clear in the figures for the three-month period ending September 30, when it saw an operating loss of a whopping 704.4 billion yen ($6.4 billion).
