Jan. 2 (UPI) — President Donald Trump said Friday that his doctors have proclaimed him to be in “perfect health,” adding that he “aced” a cognitive exam.
It’s unclear when Trump underwent his latest physical exam, but U.S. presidents typically have an annual wellness check at the beginning of January. Trump had two exams in 2025 — in October and April.
“The White House Doctors have just reported that I am in ‘PERFECT HEALTH,’ and that I ‘ACED’ (Meaning, was correct on 100% of the questions asked!), for the third straight time, my Cognitive Examination, something which no other President, or previous Vice President, was willing to take,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post early Friday.
“P.S., I strongly believe that anyone running for President, or Vice President, should be mandatorily forced to take a strong, meaningful, and proven Cognitive Examination. Our great Country cannot be run by ‘STUPID’ or INCOMPETENT PEOPLE!”
There have been growing questions about the state of Trump’s physical health in recent months after he was spotted with bruising on his hand during several public appearances as well as swelling in his legs. Many political opponents have also suggested the 79-year-old is experiencing mental decline.
Trump said he underwent an MRI during his October exam, but he and doctors have declined to specify any health condition that might have prompted the advanced imagery. Physician to the President Sean Barbabella said Trump had the MRI “because men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health.”
Though both Trump and Barbabella previously said he had an MRI, Trump told The Wall Street Journal in an interview Thursday that he in fact had a CT scan, not an MRI. In a statement released in response to the interview, Barbabella confirmed that the president had a CT scan during his October exam.
“As part of that examination, we asked the President if he would undergo advanced imaging — either an MRI or CT scan — to definitively rule out any cardiovascular issues,” Barbabella said.
“The President agreed, and our team of consultants performed a CT scan. As we revealed in the post-examination report, the advanced imaging was perfectly normal and revealed absolutely no abnormalities.”
