Pub Bans Guns, Refers to Those Who Carry as 'Douchebags'

The owner of Backstreets Pub and Deli in Clemson, South Carolina, put a sign up in his front window announcing a ban on guns on the pub’s premises and added choice words for pro-gun patrons who might be offended: “If you are such a loser that you feel you need to carry a gun with you when you go out then I do not want your business. Douchbag.”

According to Gawker, a picture of the sign was taken on St. Patrick’s Day and “subsequently went viral among gun lovers.”

The backlash was so great that Backstreets “seems to have disabled its Facebook page amid the uproar.” However, a cached version of the Facebook page shows an intense “back and forth” between Backstreets owner and pro-gun advocates who literally pressed the owner until he admitted he also has a “CWP”–concealed weapons permit.

One of the pro-gun advocates responded to this by asking if the owner was also admitting he was a “douchbag.”

South Carolina law allows persons with concealed carry permits to carry their handguns into establishments that serve food and alcohol as long as they don’t drink alcohol while in the establishment.
