Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser last night, President Obama referred to his political opponents as “the crazies,” as he reflected on the political legacy that he and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid have accomplished together.

“It’s hard for me to express how much I love Harry Reid,” he said during his remarks. “We were doing a little reminiscing and then figuring out how we’re going to deal with the crazies in terms of managing some problems.”

Obama is anticipating a difficult fight in Congress as he expects many in Congress to vote against his nuclear deal with Iran.

During the fundraiser, Obama talked about “riding off into the sunset together” with Reid at the end of his second term as president.

“Everything I’ve accomplished I’ve accomplished because Harry Reid was there by my side,” he said.

The fundraiser was held on behalf of Catherine Cortez Mastro, Reid’s handpicked candidate who has announced her campaign to succeed him in the U.S. Senate.

Earlier in the evening, Obama spoke at the Las Vegas clean energy summit, praising Reid for supporting his nuclear deal with Iran.

Obama described the deal as a “historic diplomatic breakthrough” that reflected the “best of American foreign policy.”

“We don’t rely on bluster and bravado, we focus on strong principled diplomacy that prevents Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and showing once again to the entire world what American leadership really means,” he said.

Obama also praised Democrats in Congress who were willing to support his diplomatic effort.

“The world is counting on us for leadership around the world,” he said, adding that “Democrats govern. Democrats are willing to do things that are hard.”
