Thursday on Bloomberg TV’s “With All Due Respect,” Democratic strategist and former Clinton adviser James Carville offered his thoughts on the Republican side of the 2016 presidential ticket and declared the Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) would be that’s party’s best candidate to win the White House.

CARVILLE: He is the only hope that they have that they don’t get 45 percent of the vote, and they know it.

MARK HALPERIN, co-host “With All Due Respect”: He’s the only Republican candidate who can get more than 45 percent of the vote?

CARVILLE: Yes.

HALPERIN: Not John Kasich, not Chris Christie?

CARVILLE: They don’t have a chance to be nominated. John Kasich could get more than 45 [percent], but that’s like saying I could get more than 45.

HALPERIN: So the only rational thing for the Republican Party at this point is nominate Marco Rubio?

CARVILLE: Yes, because he hasn’t said as many things as [other candidates] have. He doesn’t have the same negatives that they do. Look, I think he can get 47 [percent]. I don’t think he can win, but he can get over 45 [in a general election].

HALPERIN: And you rule out any Republican can win the election, except for Marco Rubio?

CARVILLE: Unless Romney got in or something.
