GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) bashed President Barack Obama for a “partisan speech” from the Oval Office on Sunday night, during Obama repeated his strategy to defeat the Islamic State.

In response, Cruz vowed to destroy ISIS and fix the “broken immigration system” that allows jihadists to enter the United States.

“On December 7, 1941, in response to Pearl Harbor, FDR did not give a partisan speech, rather he called on Americans to unite and ‘win through to absolute victory,’ Cruz said in a press release following Obama’s speech. “If I am elected President, I will direct the Department of Defense to destroy ISIS.”

Cruz also addressed the failed immigration system where one of the killers from the terrorist attack in the San Bernardino came into the United States on a K-1 ffiancé visa.

“And I will shut down the broken immigration system that is letting jihadists into our country,” Cruz vowed. “Nothing President Obama said tonight will assist in either case.”
