President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump traveled to Joint Airforce Base Andrews on Wednesday to honor the return of fallen United States Secret Service Special Agent Nole Edward Remagen who died during the president’s trip to Europe.

Remagen suffered a stroke while on duty in Scotland.

“Our hearts are filled with sadness over the loss of a beloved and devoted Special Agent, husband, and father,” Trump wrote in a statement. “Our prayers are with Special Agent Remagen’s loved ones, including his wife and two young children.”

Remagen was a five year veteran of the US Marines and served the Secret Service for 19 years.

“Melania and I are deeply grateful for his lifetime of devotion, and today, we pause to honor his life and 24 years of service to our Nation,” Trump wrote.

The trip was confirmed by the White House after Marine One departed for the airport.

A GoFundMe account has been created for Remagen’s family.
