Manti Te’o allegedly was speaking to a man who was impersonating the voice of a female in order to have a “relationship” with Te’o.
The lawyer of the man believed to be behind the Manti Te’o hoax said his client, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, a man, was the person speaking to Te’o on the phone during calls that allegedly lasted throughout the night. Te’o believed he was speaking to his girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, who did not exist.
The lawyer, who also represented Rodney King, said Te’o “thought it was a female he was talking with,” but, “it was Ronaiah as Lennay.”
According to the Daily News, Tuiasosopo’ resume includes vocal and dramatic training. And Te’o apparently never thought he was speaking to a man.
