Two years ago almost every team wanted Pierre Jackson to play point guard for them for two years. Though only 5-foot-10, Jackson was the best Junior College player in the country and he looked like the best point guard in the country Saturday as he single-handedly destroyed No. 4 Kansas to force the Jayhawks to settle for a share of the Big 12 title with their rival Kansas State.
K-State also lost, but they were underdogs on the road at Oklahoma State. Kansas was the favorite, and seemed to have a point guard in 6-foot-4 Elijah Johnson who could at least contain Jackson.
Instead, Jackson ran circles around the much bigger Kansas team to outscore Johnson 28 to 10 and dish out 10 assists to drive an 81-58 shocker. victory over Kansas on Saturday to keep the fourth-ranked Jayhawks from the outright Big 12 regular-season title.
His favorite target was Cory Jefferson, who went to the rim to dunk against the bigger Kansas team en route to a 25-point outing to help Baylor reach .500 in a disappointing Big 12 season and hoping their 18-13 mark gives them a chance for a bid.
