Boston Marathon Victims Learning to Run Again

Not willing to be held down for long, Boston Marathon bombing victims are learning to run once again. Several of the severely wounded victims of the April 15 terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon have been attempting to run on new prosthetic legs at a clinic at Harvard University.

The clinic is run by the Challenged Athletes Foundation, a group that helps amputee athletes by assisting them with equipment and training. Many of the victims are fighting to show there will be no change in their lives or behavior.

One such survivor is Heather Abbot, who lost part of her left leg in the blast. Abbott, pictured above throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park, was fitted with a prosthetic leg at the clinic on Saturday and is enjoying regaining her ability to run and train. After trying the prosthetic out in the rain, she reports no blisters or impediment to her progress.
