NASCAR Fines Bubba Wallace for Calling Officials ‘Muppets’

You can disregard posted speed limits and deliberately make contact with other motorists but whatever you do just don’t call NASCAR officials “muppets.”

The racing organization fined Bubba Wallace $15,000 on Wednesday for doing just that over the weekend. The Roush Fenway Racing member tweeted on Friday:

Wakawakawaka!

Wallace competed in the top five on a restart on the final lap of an Xfinity Series race at the Daytona International Speedway on Friday. But he quickly found himself embroiled in a wreck. The race ended under a caution flag, and Wallace finished 20th as officials reviewed the finish.

Bubba didn’t like the resolution. NASCAR didn’t like the ridicule.

So, NASCAR went bush league on its minor leaguer.

Playing Statler and Waldorf works best when the muppets possess a sense of humor rather than a sense of importance.

File under: It’s not easy, being mean.
