A professor at the University of Southern California has been detained after an “episode” she suffered on campus led people to believe that there was an active shooter Monday afternoon, police said.

Details are beginning to emerge about the alleged murderer who carried out a deadly shooting at a San Francisco UPS processing facility that claimed the lives of four people Wednesday, including the shooter.

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston Police Department (HPD) officers and a SWAT team are responding to a shooting at a local charity hospital. Reports indicate a shot or shots were fired inside the hospital.

News outlets in Texas are reporting that at least two shooters are involved in what appears to be a robbery gone bad in a San Antonio, Texas, mall. Reports indicate that one person was killed, and five others were taken to area hospitals. A licensed Texas gun owner stepped in and shot one robber after that man allegedly killed a Goood Samaritan.

One woman is dead and four others were wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Austin, Texas. The first shooting occurred in the heart of the city’s famous 6th Street entertainment district while the second occurred a few blocks away.

Joint Base Andrews, located in suburban Maryland near Washington, D.C., was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after reports of an active shooter, with instructions for all personnel to “shelter in place.”

Police are searching for a gunman on the UCLA campus who allegedly shot two victims Wednesday morning.

In the wake of the October 1 attack in the gun-free facilities of Umpqua Community College, the University of Maryland has released active shooter response guidelines that advise students to “run” and “hide.”

On September 21, a trainee working in an emergency response center that oversees a group of military bases–including Camp Pendleton–accidentally signaled an “active shooter” alert.

On September 14, Delta State University tweeted an “active shooter” alert, placing the Cleveland, Mississippi, campus on lockdown and urging all students to lock their doors.

In what is presented as an effort to mentally prepare students and faculty alike on how to react to an active shooter on campus, “certain schools” located in Oregon, Florida, and New Jersey have adopted “unannounced active-shooter drills.”
