National Guardsmen, Border Patrol Agents Seize $200K in Meth

Soldiers with the California National Guard teamed up with Border Patrol agents to seize nearly a quarter-million dollars in methamphetamine. The guardsmen are assigned to assist Border Patrol agents with non-immigration enforcement activities as part of Operation Guardian Support.

More than 100 California Guardsmen Deploy to Support Border Patrol

The San Diego Sector Border Patrol announced the arrival of 108 California National Guardsmen. The troops were deployed to support President Donald Trump’s Operation Guardian effort to provide additional security along the southwestern border with Mexico.

Pentagon to Suspend Effort to Collect from California’s Soldiers

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced Wednesday that he was ordering the Pentagon to suspend its efforts to take back cash bonuses for re-enlistment that were paid to thousands of soldiers from the California National Guard serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, Fox News reported.

Cal National Guard Demands Return of 10,000 Enlistment Bonuses

About 10,000 California Army National Guard members have been ordered to return enlistment bonuses of $15,000 or more they accepted from military recruiters that committed fraud at the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
