Da Vinci Arson Suspect Denied Reduction in $1 Million Bail

LOS ANGELES — A pre-trial hearing was held on Thursday for Dawud Abdulwali, 56, the man who is accused of being the arsonist responsible for the massive conflagration that rendered the Da Vinci Building in downtown Los Angeles a complete loss. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Upinder S. Kalra denied a request from Abdulwali’s public defender, Lowynn Young, to reduce his $1 million bail.

Fire Rips Through Top of Another L.A. Building

A raging blaze ripped through the top floors of a six-story commercial office building in Los Angeles’s Westlake District on Monday evening. Two people were reportedly rescued from the fire and one of them is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Reward for Arrest in Massive L.A. Fire Hits Unprecedented $170,000

LOS ANGELES, California — The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who caused a massive downtown Los Angeles fire that destroyed the 7-story Da Vinci apartment complex, melted freeway signs, and damaged local buildings late last year is now set at an unprecedented $170,000.
