Obama: Manufacturing Jobs Outsourced To Mexico Aren’t Coming Back

During a town hall in Elkhart, Indiana, Barack Obama was asked a question about manufacturing by a man who was once employed by Carrier Corporation in Indiana before the plant moved to Mexico. “What we have to do is to make sure that folks are trained for the jobs that are coming in now because some of those jobs of the past are just not going to come back,” Obama said bluntly during the event broadcast on PBS.

Black Unemployment Still Twice as High as White Unemployment

While the economy added jobs and the national unemployment rate was relatively unchanged, the African American unemployment rate remained more than twice as high as the white unemployment rate and nearly double the national unemployment rate, according to Labor Department data released Friday.
