Jerry Brown Signs Historic Anti-BDS Bill Into Law

On Saturday afternoon, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed an historic anti-boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) bill, Assembly Bill 2844, into law, effectively barring companies that engage in discrimination against any sovereign state — including the Jewish state of Israel — from doing business with the Golden State.

California Officially Bans Orca Captivity and Breeding

California Governor Jerry Brown signed an anti-Orca breeding and captivity bill into law on Tuesday. Democrats had been pushing for the law since at least 2013, and its passage follows within a year of Sea World San Diego succumbing to pressure from left-wing animal rights activists by agreeing to end future orca shows.

California Legislature Passes Anti-BDS Law

California’s State Assembly has voted nearly unanimously, save one vote in both the State Assembly and Senate, to send the Golden State’s first-ever anti-“boycott, divestment and sanctions “(BDS) bill to Gov. Jerry Brown, who will need to decide whether to sign or veto it by September’s end.

Bipartisan Anti-BDS Bill Passes California Committee

On Wednesday, the anti-BDS Act of 2016 (AB 2844) passed the first of many steps in California’s legislative process, thanks largely to the support of three Republicans and two Democrats on the state’s Assembly Accountability Administrative Review Committee, whose votes pushed the legislation over the top.

A first-of-its-kind bill opposing boycotts of Israel, introduced by Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach), has been held up in California’s Democratic-controlled state legislature for nearly three months. Now, the state’s Jewish Caucus has introduced a highly similar bill by Assemblyman Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica).
