The Division is out, and in defiance of all the pre-launch skepticism, has been making a pretty major statement. According to Ubisoft, it’s been pretty good for them as well.

According to the blog post by Content Communications Manager Giancarlo Varanini, The Division isn’t just Ubisoft’s best selling game — it’s also the biggest week ever for a new franchise, raking in a more than $330 million in its first five days.

According to Yves Guillemot, CEO and co-founder of Ubisoft:

The Division taking the top spot in the industry for first-week sales of a new franchise is a tremendous achievement. We are very proud of our teams, and humbled by and thankful for the millions of players who are giving us their feedback and support. The Division is the latest example yet of our unique ability to deliver immersive gaming playgrounds that keep players engaged, and that they eagerly share with their friends and community.

I’ve been working at salvaging New York City’s plague-ridden streets since launch, and my review is on the way. Without spoiling too much, let me just say that I haven’t been this immersed in an online world since the original debut of World of Warcraft.

Stay tuned.
