Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has revealed a new project he believes could revolutionize travel: city-to-city rocket transport system.

The Verge reports that Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has proposed a new form of transportation around the world — rockets. Musk announced revised timeframes and plans for his company SpaceX reaching the Moon and Mars with their rockets at a space industry conference this week and ended his talk with the idea for SpaceX to use their rocket technology to transport people not just to space, but from one city to another across the world at high speeds.

Musk claimed the new technology would allow customers to perform “most long-distance trips” in just 30 minutes and go “anywhere on Earth in under an hour.” Musk has recently proposed using SpaceX’s newest mega-rocket (codenamed Big Fucking Rocket or BFR for short) to carry a huge spaceship into orbit around Earth. The ship would then settle on floating landing pads near cities.

Currently, both the BFR and spaceship are theoretical, but Musk reportedly hopes to see construction on the BFR happen in the next 6-9 months.

Last year one of the space exploration company’s rockets exploded on the launchpad before it even took flight. Earlier this month, Musk released a “blooper reel” of multiple SpaceX rockets that exploded in testing.
