Exclusive — Whip McCarthy Defiant: Republicans Strongest When United

On Thursday, Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) said that the so-called Hastert Rule “was never a rule to begin with,” implying that he could proceed with legislation without a majority of his own party in support.

Responding to Boehner’s comments, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told Breitbart News exclusively that any move away from the Hastert Rule would be unacceptable. “As Whip,” he said, “I strongly believe in regular order to ensure all legislation has the support of a majority of the majority. If we have learned anything from the last three months, it is that Republicans are strongest when we lead and when we are united.”
