Fleeing Robbery Suspect Shoots Self in Groin

After allegedly shooting another man in Portland, Oregon on January 28, a robbery suspect tucked his pistol in his pants to flee and accidentally shot himself in the groin.

According to The Oregonian, during an attempted robbery in an apartment complex parking lot a “40-year-old man pulled out a gun and shot…[a 32-year-old] man in the leg.” The wounded man fell to ground before getting up and making his way to a grocery store for help.

Police believe the alleged robber then tucked his pistol in his pants and shot himself as he was fleeing the scene.

A resident in the apartment complex said he heard “two loud noises” and walked out of “the building to investigate.” He said “the 40-year-old man walked by and told him to call an ambulance because he had been shot.” When police arrived on the scene the “wounded suspect” fled and was later caught at Southwest Sixth Avenue and Mill Street.
