Hamas Dares Israel to Invade

Yesterday, the top leader of Hamas dared Israel on Monday to launch a ground invasion of Gaza while dismissing the idea of a cease-fire. Now, of course, Hamas has reversed itself, suggesting that a ceasefire has been agreed-to; their Baghdad Bob puffed-chest routine was empty all along. But it was still telling.

Speaking in Cairo, far from the battle scene, Khaled Meshal taunted that the mobilization of the Israeli Army outside Gaza was a bluff by Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu and denied that Hamas had been responsible for starting the hostilities:

If you wanted to launch it, you would have done it. The demand of the people of Gaza is meeting their legitimate demands — for Israel to be restrained from its aggression, assassinations and invasions, and for the siege over Gaza to be ended.

A Qassam leader Mosheer Al Masri blustered:

Tel Aviv, which we hit, will be hit over and over until you stop your crimes against our civilians. Your threats will not scare us, they will just make us stronger and more resistant. Your leaders are misleading you and will take you to hell. Our message to Netanyahu is that we will defeat you like we defeated your ancestors. We still have so much in our pockets and we will show you if we have to.

Masri may want to study his history; the Jews were defeated by the Assyrians and the Romans; the Arab Muslim world has been unsuccessful fighting against armed Jews. Their greatest successes were the slaughters of unarmed Jews, as in Hebron in 1929 or Mohammed slaughtering the village of the Banu Qurayza tribe in Medina, A.D. 627, where, (according to Sirat Rasul Allah) he beheaded 700 of them.

It’s a little different when Jews can fight back.
