Ed O'Bannon: Pay Little Leaguers, HS Athletes if Games Are Televised

On the first day of trial in a case that could reshape college athletics, former UCLA Bruins superstar Ed O’Bannon reportedly said high school athletes and Little Leaguers should also be paid if their games are televised.

O’Bannon is a lead plaintiff in an anti-trust lawsuit that, if successful, “could pave the way for a system that uses some of the huge money flowing into television contracts to pay athletes for their play once they are done with their college careers.”

The plaintiffs are not asking for individual damages in the lawsuit.

O’Bannon reportedly said if the Little Leaguers and high school athletes are generating revenue for broadcast networks or their schools then they should be compensated.
