House Ethics Committee Gives Wrist Slap to Scandal-Ridden California Rep.

Let’s say a member of Congress violates the law by forcing her taxpayer-funded staff to work on her campaign. Let’s say she also improperly uses official resources for her personal use. And then, when Congress decides to look into the matter, she obstructs the investigation. What is a proper punishment for the perpetrator? 2 Sep 2012

Maryland Voters Win Legal Victory Against Democrat Gerrymandering

On August 17, Maryland’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, issued a ruling that will subject Maryland’s newly gerrymandered Congressional Districting Plan (MD Senate Bill 1, Chapter 1 of the 2011 Special Session of the General Assembly) to voter referendum on Election Day 2012. 1 Sep 2012

Obama Admin Blesses GSA Decision Not to Arrest Occupy Protesters

Last week, we released records from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) indicating that the General Services Administration (GSA), with the approval of the Obama White House, instructed law enforcement officers to “stand down” and not arrest “Occupy Portland” protestors who were in violation of the law. 14 Aug 2012

Obama Administration Sued for Records about Bankrupt MF Global Holdings Ltd.

The American people deserve to know the truth about what FSOC officials knew about the epic failure of MF Global and when they knew it. But once again, the Obama administration refuses to provide basic information related to its supposed “oversight” of the private sector. I suspect it is because that this “oversight” is more about politics than about the public interest. 13 Aug 2012

Did Holder Lie Under Oath About Black Panther Scandal?

Recently there was a court decision that validated what Judicial Watch has suggested all along – that political appointees at the Obama Department of Justice (DOJ) were involved in the decision to spike the voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense (NBPP). 13 Aug 2012

Judicial Watch Sues Fed for Records Detailing AIG Bailout

Judicial Watch uncovered a series of presentation slides detailing the terms of the AIG bailout. Included among the items is a slide entitled “Investment Considerations.” On the slide the words, “The prospects of recovery of capital and a return on the equity investment to the taxpayer are highly speculative” are crossed out by hand. And we also know that AIG executives, thanks to the Obama administration, used quite a bit of this money to stuff their own pockets. 6 Aug 2012

Court Rules DOJ Politicized Black Panther Case

Imagine if a conservative political appointee at DOJ had just been cited in a federal court decision as having apparently testified falsely under oath. Not only would it be a top headline at The New York Times and The Washington Post, but the IG and OPR would be rushing to investigate. All of which is a sad commentary on the liberal bias not just of the media, but of too many of the offices and officials within the Justice Department who are supposed to administer justice in an objective, non-political, and impartial manner. 6 Aug 2012

HHS Sued for Records Detailing Grant to the National Council of La Raza

Whether we’re talking about Obamacare favors for union bosses or illegal payments to ACORN and its spinoffs, the Obama administration knows how to take care of its “friends,” and that includes the crazies from “La Raza.” On July 18, 2012, we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Obama Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) seeking access to records detailing taxpayer-funded grants provided by the Centers for Disease Control to the National Council of La Raza (The National Council of “The Race”). 30 Jul 2012

ACLU Challenges PA Voter ID Law; Judicial Watch Seeks Information on Possible DOJ Involvement

On July 17, 2012, we filed an amicus curiae brief with the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in support of HB 934, a voter identification measure signed into law by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett on March 14, 2012. The ACLU of Pennsylvania filed a lawsuit against the law on behalf of various individuals, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and allied groups. 24 Jul 2012
