Halloween is quickly approaching, and costume retailers are finding out the hard way not all cultural icons are fair game in regards to satire.

Every year, enthusiastic partygoers dress up as former presidents, rock stars, actors, aborted children, and even Jesus, however, celebrating under the guise of post-gender transition Bruce Jenner is off the table, according to the reality TV star’s most ardent supporters.

Available at anytimecostumes.com for $74.99, the “Call Me Caitlyn Unisex Adult Costume” will allow you to attend your chosen Halloween event as the former Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year, as seen on the cover of the July issue of Vanity Fair.

The problem for some: the outfit is a derision of “transphobic” hatred.

The costume includes a white padded top and matching shorts, as well as a brunette wig and a sash that says, “call me Caitlyn.”

“With the items in the set, you’ll be able to emulate her picture perfect look for the upcoming party this year,” a description for the getup reads. “You probably won’t break any Twitter records when you wear this outfit like Caitlyn did when she first made her account, but you’ll be sure to get a few laughs out of your friends and the other guests at the get together.”

Despite the ambiguity of the “Call Me Caitlyn Unisex Adult Costume,” which does not identify with either gender, scores of offended Jenner supporters have taken to Twitter to go after the company, and some have even issued threats of violence against anyone seen dressed as the former Olympian on October 31:

Another costume retailer, Spirit Halloween, is also under attack for selling costumes of Jenner. A Change.org petition calling for the company to halt production reads:

“To Spirit Halloween: We demand that you revoke your ideas and production of a Caitlyn Jenner costume for Halloween… we are concerned that this costume will continue your oppressive tradition with a transphobic costume of Caitlyn Jenner.”

The petition adds, “To make a costume out of a marginalized identity reduces that person and community to a stereotype for privileged people to abuse. In this case, if you follow through with production of a Caitlyn Jenner costume, cisgender people will purchase it to make fun of her and our community.”
