Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas and Coahuila to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities.  The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “M.A. Navarro” from Ciudad Victoria.

CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas — Blood continues to run down the streets from the Los Zetas civil war with seven executions in four days just last week despite the many assurances given by the Tamaulipas government. Executions, threatening messages and terror continue to be daily occurrences in this city as two rival factions of the Los Zetas cartel, Cartel Del Noreste (CDN) and Grupo Bravo fight for control.

As previously reported by Breitbart Texas, two rival factions of the Los Zetas cartel have been fighting for control of the Tamaulipas state capital. They have been sowing terror and murder in the community as innocent bystanders are caught in the crossfire of the unending number of kidnappings, shootouts and executions.

The spike in executions came after a brief rest period during Easter Week where, for unknown reasons, executions in the Los Zetas civil war apparently stopped for five days. On the night of April 29, violence reignited as unknown gunmen shot and killed one man at a local bar.

The following day, on April 30, shortly after 3:30 p.m. authorities responded to another double shooting in the Mexico neighborhood at  a local mechanic shop. One person died at the scene while another was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.

The violence continued on the evening of March 31, when authorities responded to a double shooting in a rural community known as La Libertad. Both victims are reported to have died. At about the same time, authorities responded to a local bar in Ciudad Victoria’s downtown area where another execution took place. In this incident, one man was shot to death.

Just one day later authorities responded to another mechanic shop in the Mainero neighborhood for another execution. The victim in that case had also been shot to death.

In addition to the raging violence, both factions continue placing banners throughout the city in an effort to create fear within their rivals as well as in the community.

In one of the handmade banners the CDN hung in this city, the cartel asks Mexican federal and state police forces to stay out of the fight. They continue to deliver threats against individuals tied to the Grupo Bravo faction.

The Grupo Bravo faction responded soon after with a series of banners that appear to have been professionally made. They placed the banners in various areas of the city, including right outside of the Cinepolis movie theater in the Campestre neighborhood.

The movie theater is just across the street from the mansion where Tamaulipas Governor Egidio Torre Cantu lives.
