Part-time DJ Natalie Coleman won the final of BBC’s MasterChef, wowing the judges with a menu of lobster and fennel, pork belly with scotch egg and vanilla chocolate panna cotta.
“It’s a dream come true,” said the 29-year-old, who credited her performance to the influence of her late grandmother.
Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace predicted “great things” for the Hackney native, who fought off competition from 50 contestants to claim the prize on Thursday.
Coleman defeated fellow finalists Larkin Cen and Dale Williams — both from Cardiff — during a gruelling test which included cooking for four of the world’s greatest chefs.
“She makes people smile,” said Torode. “She also has a great palate and understands flavour combinations.
“Natalie’s got it. She is a very, very clever woman and her food is fantastic,” he added.
