A man was due in court on Tuesday charged with the murder of 16-year-old Hani Hicham Abou El Kheir, who was stabbed to death in central London in an attack by at least 10 youths.
Hani died from multiple stab wounds on January 27 after he was attacked in Pimlico, one of London’s most affluent neighbourhoods, by a gang who were reportedly wielding knives and swords.
Ahmed Mikhaimar, 19, was charged with murder on Monday night and was due to appear at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court in east London on Tuesday morning, Scotland Yard said.
Eight other people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
Two boys aged 16 and 17 were arrested on suspicion of Hani’s murder on Saturday and released on bail on Monday until a date yet to be fixed, Scotland Yard said.
A 48-year-old man, a woman of 47 and two girls aged 16 and 17, who were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of assisting an offender, were bailed Sunday to a date in March.
A 20-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder last Thursday and bailed until late March.
