Hull City promoted to Premier League

Hull City were promoted to the Premier League on Saturday after drawing 2-2 at home to Cardiff City on the final day of the Championship season.

Hull last played in the Premier League in 2010 and will join already-promoted Cardiff in the English top tier next season.

Watford would have leapfrogged Hull if they had won at home to Leeds United, but a 2-1 defeat consigned Gianfranco Zola’s side to the play-offs alongside Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

At the bottom of the table, three-time English champions Wolverhampton Wanderers and Peterborough United were both relegated, joining Bristol City in League One for next season
