New United States women’s football coach Tom Sermanni will face his native Scotland in his first match with the American squad, the US Soccer Federation announced on Saturday.
The Americans will play host to Scotland in a friendly on February 9 at Jacksonville, Florida.
“It’s great to have the first game set, and it’s even more exciting that my first opponent as the US coach is against the country of my birth,” Sermanni said. “I’m really looking forward to getting started with this team.”
Sermanni spent the past eight years as coach of the Australian national women’s team, guiding the Matildas to the quarter-finals of the past two Women’s World Cups.
