Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has been slapped with a $25,000 fine for making a throat-slashing gesture in a game against the Golden State Warriors, according to the Oklahoman newspaper.
The National Basketball Association’s disciplinary officials levied the fine for what they called a “menacing gesture” that occurred with 1:36 left in the second quarter of Thursday’s 116-97 win over the Warriors.
Durant threw down a crucial dunk to help Oklahoma City seize control of the contest then turned and made a brief throat-slashing gesture.
Durant later told reporters the gesture meant “Kill ‘em and pray for ‘em after the game.”
The league though felt Durant, who is gunning for his fourth consecutive league scoring title, went too far and fined him.
