The National Football League’s disciplinary committee on Monday slapped Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed with a one-game suspension for violation of player safety rules.
The ban came after by Reed’s latest infringement of the rules, a hit to the head and neck of Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders in Sunday’s 13-10 win. Reed was given a penalty for unnecessary roughness on the play.
It is the third instance in the last three years that Reed has failed to let up when making contact with a defenseless opponent.
Reed was penalized for unnecessary roughness and fined $21,000 for hitting Patriots Deion Branch during a September 23 game.
