A man was jailed Tuesday after putting a cat in a tumble dryer, filming it and posting the footage on YouTube, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) said.
Alan Staughton, 23, of Huntingdon, eastern England, put Princess inside the drier and told the animal it was going for “a tumble” before letting it spin for 12 seconds.
The cat suffered a broken tooth and a tongue injury in the incident in June.
He was jailed for 56 days by magistrates in Huntingdon and banned from keeping animals for life.
Staughton, who has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a conduct disorder, admitted causing unnecessary suffering to the animal, which belonged to his then-partner, at an earlier hearing.
The relationship broke down over the incident and the cat has been found a new home.
