Fire crews on Sunday rescued 39 people from a ride at the Chessington World of Adventures theme park after they were stranded 20 feet in the air for three hours.
Around two thirds of those who were stuck on the Rameses Revenge ride at the Surrey park were children, according to fire station manager Justin Coo.
“No injuries have been reported though a few people are understandably a bit uncomfortable as they had been stuck for some time,” he explained.
Some 20 firefighters attended the scene at around 5.00pm, cutting safety harnesses to allow those onboard to disembark using a ladder.
“Two people suffered asthma attacks and two were treated for anxiety whilst stuck on the ride,” Coo told BBC News.
Chessington said a technical problem had caused the automatic fail-safe system to bring the ride to a controlled stop.
“We are very sorry for any discomfort our guests experienced during the delay,” said a statement.
