Former National Football League receiver Chad Johnson was released on bail on Monday after serving time in a county jail following his arrest for allegedly violating several terms of his probation.
Johnson, who turned himself in to police at the Broward County courthouse, was released on $1,000 bail.
A warrant was issued for his arrest after Johnson failed to meet with his probation officer twice.
While playing for the Miami Dolphins, Johnson was arrested last August on a misdemeanor charge after allegedly head-butting then-wife Evelyn Lozada during a domestic dispute in a vehicle.
According to a police report, the argument apparently began when Lozada discovered a receipt for condoms in the car.
Johnson, 34, was released by the Dolphins shortly after the incident and later given a sentence of probation.
Johnson played his first 10 NFL seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals before joining the New England Patriots for the 2011 season. In all, Johnson has 766 career receptions for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.
