Representatives from the National Hockey League and the players’ union met with mediators for six hours but made little progress toward ending a three-month-old labor dispute.
Federal mediator Scot Beckenbaugh oversaw the meeting, which was the first since the two sides abruptly ended talks last Thursday.
The two sides also met with mediators on November 28 and 29, but those discussions also ended without progress.
“We met for about six-and-a-half hours today with the assistance of federal mediator Scot Beckenbaugh,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said.
“The parties were never actually in the same room together. We did several different caucus meeting rooms. There is nothing new to report,” he said.
“We don’t have a conclusion to the process,” he continued.
“The players are doing something (Wednesday) night and they are going to get back to mediator Beckenbaugh.”
