Military prosecutors will seek the death penalty for a US soldier accused of killing 16 villagers in southern Afghanistan in March, an army spokesman said Wednesday.
“The government will seek the death penalty,” said Gary Dangerfield, a spokesman for Joint Base Lewis-McChord, where Sergeant Robert Bales faced pre-trial hearings last month over the killings.
