Two Amtrak passenger train cars derail in Vermont

NORTHFIELD, Vt., Oct. 5 (UPI) — Two Amtrak passenger train cars derailed Monday morning near Northfield, Vt., after going over an embankment.

The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. in the area of Northfield’s Route 12A and Bull Run Road. Emergency crews are responding to the scene.

Monday’s derailment comes months after an Amtrak train derailed in May near Philadelphia, killing seven.
