EAGLE PASS, Texas — A high school teacher from this border city remains under investigation by school officials as they try to determine how her nude photographs ended up on social media and into the hands of students.
The incident began last month when school officials were alerted to the various photographs that depict a high school teacher fully nude that were being spread around on social media, Eagle Pass ISD Board President Lupita Fuentes confirmed to Breitbart Texas.
The teacher, whose name has not been released has been placed on suspension while school officials determine the intent of the photographs being posted on social media and to determine what other violations had taken place. The case is a first of its kind for Eagle Pass, Fuentes said.
The scandal in the small school board comes at a time when as Breitbart Texas has been reporting the number of cases of teachers carrying out improper acts with or around students appears to be on the rise.
This month, a West Texas teacher received a 60 year prison sentence on sexual misconduct charges. The sentence comes after Jay Dee Burns, 45, a former social studies teacher and academic decathlon coach at Permian High School, pleaded guilty to four counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student, three counts of sexual assault of a child, one count of indecency with a child, and one count of stalking. Burns was set to receive 110 years but some of the charges were set to run concurrent thus diminishing the total amount of time that will be served.
In March in East Texas, a Shelby County grand jury indicted Shelbyville ISD former teacher Johanna Grace Vickers on 17 out of 18 felony counts of an improper sexual relationship with a student.
Also in March, in North Texas, former Plano Independent School District teacher, Aaron Russel Reza, was indicted Tuesday on nine counts of sexual misconduct between an educator and a minor, each a second-degree felony.
