Trump’s Alma Mater Enacts ‘Sanctuary Campus’ Policy

President-Elect Donald Trump’s alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania, has enacted a “sanctuary campus” policy which bans federal immigration officials from the school’s grounds and protects illegal immigrants from deportation.

University President Amy Gutmann announced in an email to students how her administration would enforce sanctuary campus rules, foreshadowing Trump’s policies against illegal immigration, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer.

“The University of Pennsylvania will not allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) / Customs and Border Protection (CBP) / U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on our campus unless required by warrant,” Gutmann’s email noted. “Further, the university will not share any information about any undocumented student with these agencies unless presented with valid legal process.”

“The University of Pennsylvania will continue to advocate passionately for comprehensive immigration reform,” the email continued.

Gutmann made clear her position in favor of illegal immigration into the country, citing her support for the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, as well as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

DACA, which delays the deportation of illegal immigrants who entered the country as minors, has already been slammed by Trump–declaring that he will repeal the measure and enforce existing immigration laws.

So far, 400 universities and colleges, including the University of Pennsylvania, have signed a petition supporting DACA.

The university is very much in-line with local law enforcement practices now as well.

Breitbart Texas reported a week ago how the Philadelphia Police Department’s “sanctuary city” policies allowed them to release an accused child rapist.

Federal immigration officials described how 40-year-old Winston Enrique Perez Pilarte was released by Philadelphia officials back in 2015 after failing to “honor” their detainer on the Dominican national.

The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) tried to adopt similar sanctuary campus guidelines but after thousands of phone calls and major backlash from alumni and local residents, the resolution was pulled, as Breitbart Texas reported.
