Dustin Johnson Spends Time Away from Golf Golfing

Dustin Johnson may be suspended from the PGA Tour (or he may not be). But he’s not suspended from playing golf.

The controversial golfer shot a 61, according to Golf Digest, in recent days at the Gozzer Ranch Golf and Lake Club in Idaho. The club boasts of “a private Tom Fazio-designed golf course ranked #27 of America’s Greatest Golf Courses in 2013 and Best New Private Course of 2008 by Golf Digest, a Lake Club with two full-service Marinas (175 total slips), Kids’ Red Barn and Coulter Camp, an old-time General Store, and 267 estate-sized custom homesites ranging from ¾ to more than 4 acres.” Mountains overlook the course that overlooks Lake Coeur d’Alene.

It beats rehab.

Last week, ahead of a Golf.com report claiming that the PGA had suspended the golfer for testing positive for cocaine, Johnson announced a hiatus from the tour. “I am taking a leave of absence from professional golf, effective immediately,” Johnson explained in a statement. “I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced. By committing the time and resources necessary to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation, I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion.”

Is golf the therapy that required the 30-year-old to take a leave of absence from golf?

A picture of Johnson caddying for fiancee Paulina Gretzky made the rounds on social media this week. The message? Their engagement, to say nothing of various marriages within PGA circles, hasn’t broken up over Johnson’s off-course exploits.
