The Terrorists Didn't Fail

In response to Obama’s rush to judgment:

These words from Obama’s weak and uninspired statement following the capture of the second terrorist, rang  hollow to my ears.

“One thing we do know is that whatever hateful agenda drove these men to such heinous acts will not — cannot — prevail. Whatever they thought they could ultimately achieve, they’ve already failed. They failed because the people of Boston refused to be intimidated. They failed because, as Americans, we refused to be terrorized.”

While Obama struggles to figure out what “hateful agenda” might have driven  these men to such heinous acts, I have a newsflash for him. 

They didn’t fail.

They succeeded in killing four Americans and maiming 170 others.  They planted bombs designed to blow off peoples’ legs at a running competition, and they were horrifyingly successful in their endeavor.

Boston wasn’t intimidated? 

They shut down a city of 7 million people and train service was halted for an entire day. Is not one of the objectives of terrorism the creation economic havoc in a given area through violence?

So enough with the brave words. What are we going to do to avenge the terrorists’ victims?

Will Obama’s Homeland Security take a much needed break from targeting pro-lifers, 2nd Amendment supporters and traditional marriage proponents and focus on real threats to America?

And by that, I don’t mean putting in place more policies that infringe upon our freedoms as we see at our nation’s airports.

Oh, there’s a reason why Americans have been subjected to humiliating pat downs and “naked scanners” at airport screenings since the Fall of 2009. 

It’s because the counter-terrorism policies of this administration, under Obama, Holder and Brennan, have failed to keep us safe.

Here’s the tally of terror attacks on US soil that have taken place since Obama took office.

This represents quite an uptick since Bush left office. What changed?

As blogger AJ Strata noted in April of 2010, the Obama Administration Confused national defense and criminal defense.

When President Obama was candidate Obama, his national security team was clear that they were going to roll back the Bush hair-trigger defenses and do things very differently. They were adamant to prove we were not really at war, and that we could fight the bloody-mad Jihadists using courtrooms and prosecutors. Their naivete knew no bounds.

The Obama administration decided early on that  they knew enough about the threat to adjust Bush’s early warning network to be much less intrusive on suspects. Strata noted that “they were arrogantly wrong. Their changes introduced openings that al Qaeda and its allies exploited with surreal success.”

Other than enacting more intrusive policies on everyday Americans, it doesn’t look like the administration has changed it’s national security posture at all,  since then. 

As Big Government reported, yesterday, the FBI finally had to admit that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was on their radar after his mother told Russia Today that her son had been monitored by the FBI on Skype, and had actually spoken with him “every step of the way.” 

CBS News correspondent Bob Orr said that the FBI conducted the investigation into Tsarnaev after requests from a foreign government – likely Russia — but could not uncover any ties between Tsarnaev and any foreign terrorist entities.

CBS reports that the FBI likely ran a background check, including foreign communications and overseas travel. He was finally interviewed personally by the FBI.

They had a chance to deport Tamerlan in 2009 after he was convicted of a domestic violence charge but he was allowed to stay, according to Judicial Watch.

Jake Tapper is hearing ‘crickets’ from the FBI over the Tamerlan Tsarnaev inquiry.  

So now, in order to deflect blame away from the Obama administration,  we’re seeing sympathetic profiles of the two men as victims of a culture in the United States that somehow turned them against us. And charges of Islamophobia are already being flung at anyone who dares state the obvious about the two Muslim Jihadists who mounted the terrorist attack.

While Republicans call for the captured bombing suspect to be treated as an enemy combatant, the Regime will want to treat it as a criminal matter not part of any international terrorist plot.  

And then (to answer my own question), odds are good that the Democrat media complex will go right back to their failed eliminationist narrative and demonize the Regime’s political enemies, as usual.
