Republicans Need Hunky 2016 Presidential Candidate to Win

In response to Electability:

Ok, the title of this story just made my cringe a little, but I couldn’t think of anything else.

Fellow Breitbart contributor, Jedediah Bila made four points, as to what a Republican Presidential candidate needs in order to be elected to office. I agree with the points, and also agree that moderate Republicans can still win (God help us) even with the election losing track record that side of the Republican Party has.

The only thing that could hamper a Republican from winning in 2016, is not whether or not he is too conservative, but the actual Republican Party itself, who is still hell-bent on shoving a squishy candidate down our throats, because they believe he would best representative for the GOP.

So here are Jededah’s points.

1) Charisma. Like it or not, you have to capture people’s attention. You have to be able to make people listen. You have to be able to pack events and inspire. And for those of you saying that you like your politicians boring, that’s fine. But most Americans don’t. And guess what? Most Americans don’t vote for boring, either.

2) Presentation. You can have the best policy ideas in the world, but if you can’t sell them well, you won’t get the chance to put them into action. Yes, a good politician–one who wins–is also a good salesman.

3) People need to believe that you believe what you’re selling. When Obama told people that he wanted to usher in transparency, hope, and change, people believed that he meant it. When he talked about wealth redistribution, left-wing activists believed that he was passionate enough about it to make it happen. If you’re running on a GOP ticket and talking conservatism like it’s your third or fourth language, you’re probably not going to win.

4) Likability. People–especially young people–like politicians they’d want to have lunch with. It’s just the truth. You can ignore the truth and keep losing elections, or acknowledge it and start winning. You don’t have to like reality, but you have to live in it if you want to succeed.

There is more to it than just looks, charisma, chiseled physique, great smile, infectious personality, likability, and a great taste in clothes, if that was the case, I would be a frontrunner for President in  2016 ;) But some, an definitely all of these qualities help in the overall scheme of winning elections.

President Obama won both elections on a hokus-pokus campaign that focused on his likability, charm, and overall appearance.

Whose to say a Republican can’t do the same?

Sorry, I have already announced that I am not running for any elected office in 2014 or 2016.
