Mexican health officials now say the country has more than 9,500 confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
The new information shows 9,501 cases since the pandemic started with 857 fatalities. Health officials added in a nightly news conference Tuesday that 8,262 suspicious cases are undergoing testing.
Health officials unveiled a new outreach campaign called “Susana Distancia.” The effort will allow WhatsApp users to text Susana and guide them through interactions to advise if they need to seek immediate medical care.
In recent days, Mexican health officials were subjected to harsh criticism by top politicians and governors over the country’s lacking personal protective equipment (PPE) and poor hospital readiness. In recent days, the Tamaulipas government sought legal action against Mexico City for alleged inaction.
