FOX 32 Sunday Reporter`s Notebook: Paul McKinley and Breitbart.com

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -In my reporter’s notebook this morning, more on Illinois’ 2nd congressional district and on one of my favorite conservative websites. It’s become a chief cheerleader for apparent GOP nominee Paul McKinley, even suggesting that his 20 years in prison for armed robberies, burglaries and aggravated batteries somehow makes him an “authentic” spokesman for the district.

Breitbart.com praises Mr. McKinley’s fiery rhetoric denouncing “The Machine” and features it in several videos shot by their producer Jeremy Segal. Several of the videos refer to him blandly as an ex-offender, with no mention of the violent crimes on his record, which he didn’t want to acknowledge when he was here Election night.Hmmm. Look, if Paul McKinley really is determined to make amends for his violent past, there are many, many ways for him to do it. I’m not sure voters in the Second District will agree on April 9th that sending to Congress is the best option. We’ll see.

By the way, I personally invited Mr. McKinley to join us here today, but he did not. I also invited Breitbart.com’s Jeremy Segal, who said he was in New York. If Segal had been here, I would’ve shown him the story we ran that included Robin Kelly responding to my question about the state inspector general’s 2010 time sheet investigation.
