On Monday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Hardball,” host Chris Matthews suggested special counsel Robert Mueller “wanted this job because he thinks there’s something there,” and that President Trump is “afraid of” the fact that “Mueller means it.”

Matthews said, “[T]here’s no reason you should be afraid of a special prosecutor unless he’s got something wrong.”

He added, “And by the way, Mueller wanted this job because he thinks there’s something there, don’t you think?”

Matthews concluded, “I think what’s scaring Mr. Trump…is, what I think — what they’re — he’s afraid of is, Mueller means it. They used to say that about Bobby Kennedy, he means it. Look out, this guy’s for real.”
